Fantasy garments often combine delicate fabrics, embroidery, lace, structured pieces and detachable ornaments. The care label and product-specific instructions always take priority.
Before cleaning
- Remove detachable bows, brooches, chains, corsets, trains, capes and other accessories.
- Fasten hooks, zips and buttons where appropriate.
- Test any cleaning method on a hidden area.
- Do not soak mixed-colour pieces unless the care instructions expressly allow it.
Cleaning
Where gentle hand washing is permitted, use cool water and a mild detergent. Avoid bleach, optical brighteners, aggressive stain removers, twisting and wringing. Structured, embellished, velvet, faux-fur or colour-sensitive pieces may require professional dry cleaning.
Drying & pressing
Reshape while damp and dry away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not tumble dry unless the care label allows it. Use a pressing cloth and the lowest suitable iron or steamer setting; avoid direct heat on lace, prints, embroidery, coated fabrics and synthetic trims.
Storage
Store clean and fully dry. Use a breathable garment bag, support heavy pieces appropriately and avoid prolonged compression of boning, bustles, bows and padded accessories. Keep jewellery and metal ornaments separately wrapped to prevent snagging or tarnish transfer.
