Size Guide

The right size is especially important for fitted bodices, waistlines, corsets, sleeves and layered sets. Always use the chart on the individual product page as the final reference.

Before measuring

  • Wear close-fitting clothing or undergarments similar to those you will wear with the piece.
  • Keep the tape level and comfortably close to the body without pulling it tight.
  • Ask another person to help where possible.
  • Measure twice and record the larger consistent result.

Core body measurements

Bust: around the fullest part of the bust, with the tape level across the back.

Waist: around the natural waist, normally the narrowest point above the navel.

Hip: around the fullest part of the hips and seat.

Shoulder: from shoulder point to shoulder point across the back.

Sleeve length: from the shoulder point to the wrist with the arm slightly bent.

Garment length: use the product-page diagram because the starting point can differ by silhouette.

Body vs garment measurements

A body measurement describes the wearer. A garment measurement describes the finished piece. Garments normally require wearing ease, but the amount varies with fabric, shirring, corset lacing and intended silhouette. The product page will identify the measurement type where applicable.

Between sizes

Prioritise the least adjustable area. If a bodice is fitted at the bust and waist, choose a size that accommodates both rather than relying on letter-size habits. Do not assume One Size will suit every wearer.
